The Vigil Honor The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon its members for service to the lodge, council and Scouting. Membership cannot be won by a person's conscious endeavors. The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting, or their Scout camp. Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation. | |
Nomination Criteria To be considered for the Vigil Honor, Arrowmen must be a registered Brotherhood member in good standing for at least two years at the time of their selection. Any lodge member may nominate an eligible member. Nomination Process Please take a moment to review the list of Vigil-eligible members below and nominate any you feel are deserving of consideration by the Vigil Honor selection committee. Please provide as much information as you can about the nominee. However, if you don’t know something about the nominee, don’t let that keep you from completing the rest of the nomination. Also, do not assume someone else will nominate a worthy member. We cannot receive too many nominations. For many reasons, it is important to not inform members that they have been nominated. To prepare you for your nominations, we will be asking the following: - Is the nomination for a youth or adult?
- Nominee’s Information: Name, unit number, district, date of birth
- Question #1: Please list any offices or positions held to support this nomination.
- Question #2: Description of service to a unit, district, or council apart from the Order of the Arrow
- Question #3: Description of service to the Order of the Arrow
- Nominator’s Information (Optional): Youth or adult, name, relationship, phone number
It is important to note that submitting a picture of your nominee will greatly increase the chance of nomination as most people will be recognized by face and not simply by name. Due to the time-sensitive nature of the Vigil Honor selection process, please submit any nominations by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024 via the online nomination link below. Nominations received after the deadline cannot be considered. If you have issues with the online nomination portal, please let us know.
