When am I Considered Trained? Being a "trained" Venturing leader includes two main requirements: Youth Protection and position-specific training. Venturing Youth Protection Training All adults in ANY position in Scouting must complete Youth Protection training. Youth Protection is also highly recommended for any Scout parents or adults who may assist at the crew level, even if they are not registered. Youth Protection training must be completed every two years in order to remain valid. Training can be done online at My.Scouting.org, or it can be completed in a group setting. The Sea Scouting program uses the Venturing Youth Protection course due to the program's coed nature and the wider age-range of its participants. Sea Scout leaders must complete Venturing Youth Protection in order to be considered trained. Position-Specific Training Each adult leader position in Sea Scouting has its own specialized training to get you on the fast track to leading a Sea Scout ship. These basic training courses can be taken online at My.Scouting.org. Position-specific training available for Sea Scout leaders includes: - Skipper and Mate
- Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training
- Ship Committee Chair and Committee Members
- Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training
